209 Radio Charity Appeal - Cambridge UK

Just received an urgent request for help - from 209Radio based in Cambridge (UK) - looking for help from businesses & individuals able to provide sponsorship.

The 209 Radio Station broadcasts on the internet and on 105fM in the Cambridge City area.

***Press Release: For immediate release***

Local Charity threatened with closure
An award-winning charity which supports dozens of local community groups, including the elderly, the homeless and people with mental health issues, is on the verge of closure due to a funding crisis.
The community radio station 209radio, which broadcasts on 105FM in the Cambridge area, will not see out the year, unless it can gain substantial financial support from the people of the city it serves.

209radio uses education, training and the power of radio to support many vulnerable communities. Programmes such as Homeless Truths, Making Mental Notes (mental health), Headliners (head injuries), Silver Lining (elderly and homebound) and Polish Waves are a prime example of how the charity embraces the Cambridge community.
The Homeless Truths team recently managed to raise over £600 off their own back to support the relaunch of their worldwide unique show - entirely produced and presented by homeless and vulnerably housed people.
Andrew Gardener CEO of Headway, the charity behind Headliners, explains the importance of the show:
"209radio provides a voice for a group of people with acquired brain injury to run their own radio show. I've seen the group grow in confidence, skills and be able to live independent lives once more. If we didn’t have 209radio it would be a tragic loss for a group of people who are already disadvantaged through no fault of their own."

The station has only recently announced big plans to offer more to the citizens of Cambridge in 2010, which include renaming the station to reposition itself more strongly within the Cambridge community, but it can now only survive if someone comes forward able to offer it a lifeline. Chairman of 209radio Clive Woodman is calling for support today or lose the station for good.
"We have reached a point now whereby we need stable regular financial support to help with our core costs and continue to provide this incredible and unique service to the residents and community groups of Cambridge. We are calling for anyone who can help financially to come forward now!"
We are also looking for the business community to step forward and take advantage of extremely competitive and low-cost advertising and sponsorship.

If you can help 209radio then they would be delighted to hear from you.

T H E D R E A M--LeftGreenThumb and BigLoveZone

This is a great example of Collaboration - posted on YouTube 15th November by Multimedia Director Bobbie of BigLoveZone. Entitled "The Dream" - it's Black and White B-Movie feel is both filmic and atmospheric. Edited from previous footage (Short Film "Regrets") it is bonded perfectly to an emotional Poem written and narrated by Joel (leftgreenthumb). Yes I would say this is special - perfect in all respects. Please watch and spare the time to Comment and Rate on YouTube. The Title above links directly to the HQ Version on YouTube so experience it in full Glory.

Thoughts for 2010

Some thoughts for 2010

I would like to see if I can put more of a journalistic angle on things, up the ante - I guess. There are so many things I see, that are catching my attention, that it is hard to focus sometimes. And that is the real challenge for me, a concerted effort.

I would like to restyle things I guess
- sex up my dossier -
yeah !

So those are things to work for 2010. There is a chance that I will try and root content here in other ways . . . I am still looking at the best methods. The blog is connected in at other places - headline animators on Myspace but I do not get many readers and very few comments - so I have to be rational and see where my time is best spent.

The blog is a great way to update stuff but - if you are on a social network - nothing beats personal mail. They will say I am mad but my experience has taught me you have to deal one-to-one with people. Newsletters have always been ridiculed and thrown in the bin - you always find a few people read it. Most people see it as lazy - efficient but lazy. Parents particularly hate them. And seeing the amount of School spam that is created, I understand. So in the end the Blog has to serve a purpose or remain a personal thing - a Diary.

The problem is the time conflict - if you are sorting stuff out - you have not got time to waste on Diaries or Tweets ! If you have you, are definitely under-worked. I spend a few hours a day checking around - so it is hard to do that and keep a nice looking blog.

Anyway we will see if I can turn it around.

MYSPACE 5000

Myspace Music Logo
ProjectsWebhopOrg passes the 5000 Visitor mark on MySpace in less than a year.

2009 has been a quiet one in comparison to previous years. Okay the huge networks and services are probably showing increases in visitors. But most of us have seen a levelling out - many social networks have been like Ghost Towns since the heydays of 2006. Despite all the tweeting and chirping anyone who administers a small site and passes an eye of the stats will tell you the Gold Rush is over, for now. That is not saying there is a decline - just a lull after the initial excitement as huge numbers flocked on board and tried evry gizmo available. That's Cool !

We are a small site and do not have the resources for expanding or a desire to do so - we aim to stay small and select. So we get to be pleased with our small acheivements - knowing that many of the people who link through us and post on our network are doing just that little bit better - because we are here. If you want your Independent music or multimedia work featured or your latest release reviewed you will find many links to us here on the BLOGMAGOG. Or take the plunge and Join Us.

We will be working to increase our profile over the coming months with an eye on 2010. Our Main Site has been a singular linking page for a few months as we have been re-designing and working on other platforms - so when the new site build v3 is ready we hope you will see the difference - so pop in and bookmark us now.

"You Rhyme With Me" Lynn Harrison

Canadian Singer-Songwriter Lynn Harrison performing one of her many wonderful home-spun compositions live.

I believe her talents deserve a wider audience. At the time of writing this - this video has been posted for three months and only 17 persons on the entire planet had had this pleasure. Please take the time and check out her channel youtube/lharrison77 and please feedback on this song.

One Crazy Bitch

Sometimes things go wrong on set. The "out-takes" usually get thrown in the bin. But sometimes the errors work in your favour. This was our attempt at using the Xtranormal service. One SFX in the wrong place and we ended up with all the dialogue and camera angles going out of sync. So on playback my mate had tears rolling down his face. So we posted it . . . to Off the Wall Channel . . . It's going to be the hottest sausage on the planet cup cakes. Well ... it always pays to think big.

The first Launch will be in a few days time. The Thirty Seconds - is just that very short experimental videos by artists from around the Globe.

Bran: I have been truly astounded by this, the quality of the work and the true generosity of spirit. It is encouraging that despite Language barriers and all sorts of things that could stand in our way ... we have moved this forward at lightning speed. There are already 20 or so videos ready, most are already on YOUTUBE the final rendering into format for Streaming TV is being done as we speak. This is not for me or for the site this is for everyone who gets involved. We have already been getting enquiries from Cable Networks and other video Channels so I am excited. This is the best thing I have done during 2009. So I need to thank everyone who has subscribed and sent in contributions. We will do our best.

I beg anyone reading this to give your support just come in and subscribe to the Off the Wall Channel
